At the Jazz Band Ball DVD

"At the Jazz Band Ball" is a delightful compilation of the greatest hot music, song and dance captured at the height of the jazz age and in the early days of sound film. The video includes performances by jazz greats such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith and the Dorsey Brothers. There are outstanding tap and jazz dance productions with Ellington's numbers, as well as theoriginal staircase dance of Bill Bojangles Robinson. This video is a treat!
Of particular interest to Lindy Hoppers is the only known film footage of"Shorty George" Snowden, who was the first great Lindy Hopper of the Savoy Ballroom and is the one who gave the dance its name, inspired by aviator Lindbergh's "hop" across the Atlantic. The film short called "After Seben" shows Snowden and his partner and two other couples from the Savoy Ballroom in the late 1920's.
