Lindy Hop was launched from the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, which had the undisputed best bands and the best dancers of the 1930s and 1940s. All styles of swing had their roots in the Savoy Ballroom. The style that we call today "Savoy style" is closest to the style that was danced at the Savoy in those days and is exemplified by Frankie Manning, an original Lindy Hopper from the Savoy Ballroom. Today's young dancer instructors, Kevin and Carla and Erik and Sylvia put a new spin on the Lindy Hop with a style that has come to be known as "Hollywood Style."
